Tree Service in The Grosse Pointes, MI

The Grosse Pointes have the finest residential tree canopy in southeast Michigan, and it is not close. Streets laid out in the early twentieth century with mature elms, oaks, beeches and lindens, estate properties with genuine specimen trees, and homeowners who have maintained them for generations.

That is a demanding environment to work in and it should be. These are properties where the landscaping is professionally maintained, the neighbors notice everything, and a tree that took a hundred years to grow cannot be replaced with money.

Specimen trees and lakeshore exposure

You find things in Grosse Pointe that are rare elsewhere in the region — mature American elms that survived Dutch elm disease through decades of active care, large European beech, copper beech, ginkgo, tulip poplar and oaks well over a century old. These trees need experienced hands. A careless pruning cut on a specimen beech is not a small mistake.

Lake St. Clair frontage adds wind exposure and, on the shoreline properties, wet soil conditions that limit rooting depth. The lakefront estates carry large willows, cottonwoods and silver maples in addition to the specimen material, and those are the ones that fail in a serious blow.

Where we work in the Grosse Pointes

We work all five Pointes — Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe City, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores. That covers the lakefront estates along Lake Shore Road, the older residential streets off Kercheval and Jefferson, the neighborhoods near the Village and the Hill, and the areas bordering Harper Woods and St. Clair Shores.

Estate work often calls for a crane. Between mature specimen trees, formal landscaping, brick drives and hardscape that cannot take a dropped limb, flying wood out is frequently the only method that leaves the property intact.

A finished property should look finished when we leave

On these properties, cleanup is not a courtesy — it is the job. Turf gets protected before equipment moves, beds get raked out by hand, brick and stone get blown clean, and nothing gets driven across a lawn that will not take it.

Our customers across the region consistently describe crews that treated the property like their own. On a maintained Grosse Pointe property that standard is the entry price, and we meet it.

What customers say

From our 80 Google reviews. These are customers from across our Michigan service area rather than Grosse Pointe specifically — we do not put words in anyone's mouth about where they live.

Called back right away and set up estimate. Very fair price. Large lot with many large trees. Eddie and crew trimmed all and removed 2 sixty foot trees, ground stumps and cleaned everything up. I will use them in the future and would recommend One of a Kind Tree Service as a good company to work with.

Good work for a good price. They removed a tall tree in a tight space — I didn't have to jockey stuff around and they took care not to damage surrounding structures. Clean up was excellent as well. Would definitely recommend.

The Grosse Pointes tree service FAQs

Do you have experience with mature specimen trees?
Yes. Old beech, elm, ginkgo and century-old oaks need conservative, correctly placed cuts and an honest assessment of what the tree can tolerate. When the right answer is to do less, we say so.
Will heavy equipment damage my lawn and hardscape?
Not if it is planned. We protect turf with mats or plywood, keep equipment off brick and stone that will not take the load, and on finished properties we frequently use a crane from the street so nothing crosses the lawn at all.
