How much does tree removal cost in Michigan?
It depends on height, trunk diameter, what is underneath the tree, how close it sits to power lines and how much equipment access there is. Anyone who quotes a firm number over the phone is guessing. We come out, look at it, and give you a written price for free — and our customers consistently tell us we come in well under the other bids they collected. Whoever you hire, get the scope in writing including cleanup and debris removal, so there are no surprise charges at the end.
How fast can you come out?
Fast is what we are known for. Reviewers routinely describe same-day estimates, crews starting a day or two later, and on genuine emergencies a truck on site within the hour. Call the office line and we will tell you honestly where you land in the schedule rather than promising something we cannot deliver.
Do you clean everything up, including the wood?
Yes. Brush is chipped and hauled, logs are removed, the lawn is raked and the driveway and walks are blown clean before we leave. If you burn wood and want it cut to firewood length and stacked instead, tell us at the estimate — there is no extra charge for cutting it your way.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, and we hand you a copy of the insurance certificate before work begins. You should insist on that from any tree company. If an uninsured worker is injured on your property, that liability can land on you.
When is the best time to trim trees in Michigan?
Late winter — roughly November through mid-March — is ideal for most species. For oaks it is essential: pruning an oak between April and July can introduce oak wilt, which has no cure. Dead and hazardous limbs can be removed safely any time of year.
Do you grind the stump too?
Yes. Stump grinding is quoted as its own line item because not everyone wants it, and we grind six to twelve inches below grade so you can sod, seed or replant. Doing it on the same visit as the removal is cheaper than bringing the grinder back later.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Michigan?
A tree fully on your private property usually does not need one. The terrace strip between the sidewalk and the street is normally city right-of-way and does, and a few communities also regulate large-diameter or landmark trees. Requirements vary a lot between neighbouring cities, so we check what applies to your specific address before we schedule anything — it is far cheaper to find out first.
Can an ash tree with emerald ash borer be saved?
Sometimes, if it is caught early. Look for D-shaped exit holes in the bark and pale blond patches where woodpeckers have stripped it looking for larvae. Once more than about a third of the canopy is dead, treatment stops being worth the money and removal is the safer call. We do not apply pesticides ourselves, but we will tell you honestly which side of that line your tree is on.
What areas of Michigan do you serve?
Our shop is in Southgate and we work Downriver, across Wayne County, into Oakland and Macomb counties, and south into Monroe County. Downriver communities get the fastest response, but there is no distance surcharge anywhere in our service area.
Will my homeowners insurance cover tree removal?
Usually when a tree strikes a covered structure such as your house, garage or fence, often with a per-tree cap. A tree that falls in the open yard and hits nothing is frequently not covered. Call your carrier early and we will provide dated photos and an itemized invoice for the claim.
