Tree Service in Royal Oak, MI

Royal Oak is dense, walkable and heavily treed — a combination that makes for genuinely difficult tree work. The city built out mostly between the 1920s and the 1950s on narrow lots with detached garages at the back, and the street trees planted then are now large enough to form a continuous canopy over many residential streets.

It is a beautiful urban forest and a demanding one to maintain. Almost every removal here is a rigging job, and almost every job happens within a few feet of a neighbor.

A dense canopy on narrow lots

Royal Oak's street trees run heavily to Norway maple, silver maple, honey locust and a good number of oaks, with the older neighborhoods south of Eleven Mile having the largest specimens. Many are now eighty to a hundred years old and carrying substantial deadwood.

Because the lots are narrow and the canopy is continuous, individual trees here have grown up crowded — tall, with high canopies and comparatively narrow crowns. That works fine as long as the stand stays intact, but a removal that opens a gap exposes the neighboring trees to wind they have never experienced. It is worth thinking about before rather than after.

Where we work in Royal Oak

We work throughout the city — the neighborhoods south of Eleven Mile near downtown and the Woodward corridor, the areas around Royal Oak High School and Beaumont, the streets off Main and Rochester Road, the Vinsetta Boulevard area, and the sections bordering Berkley, Clawson and Ferndale.

Alley access exists on many Royal Oak blocks and it makes a real difference. Where we can put a chipper in the alley, a backyard removal gets substantially faster.

Clean rigging on crowded blocks

On a Royal Oak lot, the neighbor's garage is usually about ten feet from your tree and the service drop runs through the canopy. There is no version of this job that involves felling.

Every piece comes down on a rope to a controlled landing zone. It takes longer to set up and it is the only method that leaves both properties intact.

What customers say

From our 80 Google reviews. These are customers from across our Michigan service area rather than Royal Oak specifically — we do not put words in anyone's mouth about where they live.

So professional, safe, clean, organized and punctual! They arrived when they said they would and their prices are much lower than the competition. Eddie gave me an estimate lower than 5 other companies I called and he got the job done the next day! I referred several neighbors and friends to him. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

One of a Kind not only charged less than the other services in the area were bidding, they went above and beyond, trimming some extra branches on a tree nearby that needed it, and removing my two difficult trees with ease. We wanted the wood, so they cut it all into firewood length and piled it where we indicated, but cleaned up all the debris. They were kind, friendly, and quick.

Royal Oak tree service FAQs

My lot is narrow with a garage at the back. Can you still work?
Yes — it is standard for us. Where there is alley access we bring the chipper around back. Where there is not, we rig the tree down in small sections and carry material out. We confirm access before quoting.
Who owns the tree between the sidewalk and the street?
In Royal Oak, terrace trees are generally city right-of-way and removal or major pruning requires city approval. Trees behind the sidewalk line are yours. We confirm which applies for your address.
