From subdivision maples to marsh-edge cottonwood
In the developed sections, the tree profile matches the rest of Downriver: maples and honey locust in the newer subdivisions, older silver maples and dead ash in the sections built earlier. Standard suburban tree work.
Toward the wetlands and the Lake Erie shoreline, it changes completely. Wet, heavy ground supports cottonwood, willow, silver maple, green ash and box elder, and it supports them growing very large with very shallow root systems. Those areas also carry a heavy load of invasive species — common buckthorn, Asian honeysuckle and autumn olive have taken over a lot of the untended parcels here — which is why we do more brush clearing in Brownstown than almost anywhere else Downriver.

We work the whole township: the subdivisions off Telegraph and West Road, the neighborhoods near Woodhaven-Brownstown schools, the areas around Lake Erie Metropark and Gibraltar Road, and the more rural parcels toward Huron River Drive. Larger lots mean equipment can usually reach the work, which is a real cost advantage over the tighter cities to the north.
