Huron River bottomland species
The Huron corridor supports classic floodplain hardwoods — silver maple, cottonwood, sycamore, box elder, green ash and willow. All of them get large, most of them have brittle or weak wood, and all of them are rooted in soil that stays wet enough to limit deep anchoring. That is a recipe for windthrow, and Flat Rock properties near the river see it regularly.
Sycamore is worth a note because it confuses people. It sheds bark in large plates and drops branches naturally, so a healthy sycamore can look alarming. It is usually fine. What is not fine is a silver maple or cottonwood of similar size in the same location, and telling those situations apart is exactly what an on-site look is for.

Not everyone wants their tree hauled away. One of our customers wanted the wood, so we cut everything to firewood length and piled it where they pointed, then cleaned up all the brush and debris. That is a standard option, not a favor.
It is also a genuine saving. If you burn, a mature maple removal is most of a winter's heat sitting in your yard already.
