A tale of two canopies
The older neighborhoods near downtown Wayne have mature street trees planted early enough that a fair number are oak, elm and sugar maple. Those are the trees worth maintaining, and they respond well to proper deadwooding and structural pruning.
The postwar subdivisions are the familiar story: silver maple, Norway maple, ash and blue spruce planted all at once and now all aging out together. The ash mortality here was heavy.
