Around the lake, Van Buren Township combines older lakefront cottages that were converted to year-round homes, newer subdivisions built in the 1990s and 2000s, and remaining semi-rural parcels toward the township edges. All three call for different work.
Lakefront exposure and Huron River species
Shoreline properties on Belleville Lake carry the classic riparian mix: silver maple, cottonwood, willow, box elder and sycamore, all growing large in moist soil with shallow root systems. Wind coming across open water hits them with nothing in the way, and lakefront lots are consistently where our storm calls concentrate here.
Inland, the older neighborhoods have the standard aging suburban canopy while the newer subdivisions have thirty-year-old landscape trees with the usual construction-era problems: buried root flares, girdling roots and co-dominant leaders that were never corrected.

We work the City of Belleville and Van Buren Township — the lakefront properties along both shores of Belleville Lake, the downtown area near Main Street, the subdivisions off Belleville Road and Ecorse Road, the areas near Belleville High School, and the rural parcels toward Sumpter and Huron townships.
Lakefront jobs frequently need a crane or lift. There is often very little room between a lakefront home and the water, and dropping a section of cottonwood onto a seawall or a dock is not an acceptable outcome.

Waterfront trees need waterfront methods
A large cottonwood between a lake house and a seawall is not a job for felling or even for conventional rigging. There is nowhere for the wood to land that is not expensive.
We fly those out with a crane, which keeps the seawall, the dock, the boat and the landscaping intact. It is the same approach we use on Grosse Ile and the Trenton riverfront, and it is the right one here.
